McMahon Associates, Inc., a full-service transportation engineering and planning firm with more than 31 years of service, added Christopher G. Seaman, P.E., as senior project engineer to its design department. Seaman has been involved in structural and design engineering for more than eight years. He graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and is currently there pursuing his master’s degree of civil engineering.

Degenkolb Engineers announced Zubald Karim as principal at its San Diego office. In this role, Karim will be responsible for securing and managing projects, providing expert guidance, mentoring engineers and reviewing applications of quality management. Karim has extensive experience working on engineering projects in San Diego. Committed to fostering structural engineering talent and investing back into San Diego, Karim collaborates with students on matters of structural investigation, construction administration, and seismic evaluation and retrofit as an assistant professor at The New School of Architecture and Design in San Diego.

Also announced by the firm, licensed structural engineer, Chih-Hung Cheng joined Degenkolb Engineers earlier this year as associate principal in its Oakland office. With 15 years of engineering experience, Cheng will serve as one of the technical leaders in the firm, providing expert guidance, mentoring to engineers, and reviewing applications of quality management.

Schnabel Engineering, Inc., located in Glen Allen, Va., announced the addition of George Aristorenas, Ph.D., P.E., as senior associate of the firm. Aristorenas has more than 20 years experience in research, analysis, and design in structural and geotechnical engineering, including finite element analyses of soil-structure interaction problems and evaluation of existing and proposed structures subjected to various loading conditions. Aristorenas received his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of the Philippines and his doctorate degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an active member of the Deep Foundation Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Medina Consultants promoted Steven C. Panayi, P.E., to department manager of bridge design for the firm. Panayi has more than 16 years structural engineering experience in design and inspection, including conceptual and final design of proposed structures, inspection and evaluation of existing structures, and contract specification and construction cost estimates for highway and railroad bridge projects, marine terminals, and buildings.
