Large-diameter pipe
HOBAS Pipe USA says its centrifugally cast, fiberglass-reinforced, polymer mortar (CCFRPM) pipe provides corrosion resistance, superior hydraulics, and a long, maintenance-free life while maintaining maximum flow capacity, making it ideal for wastewater applications. HOBAS expanded its product line to include pipe as large as 110 inches in diameter. CCFRPM pipe features thin-wall construction that reduces pipe weight and push-together, gasket-sealed couplings. The company also offers tee-base manholes, elbows, and other specialty items to fit its range of pipe from 18 inches to 110 inches in diameter.

Grease separator handles food waste
Advanced Drainage Systems’ high-density polyethylene Grease Interceptor has a high resistance to corrosion from food waste and, according to the company, is unaffected by strong acids and alkalis with an operating pH range of 1.5 to 14. The Grease Interceptor is lightweight, easy to handle, and quick to install with minimum heavy equipment. Watertight sanitary joints, achieved through bell-and-spigot couplers, prevent waste from infiltrating groundwater. The gravity-flow units are available in three standard capacities—750, 1,000, and 1,500 gallons—and have 8-inch standard inlet and outlet tees. A vertical weir plate divides the unit into two chambers and contains an 8-inch orifice that allows lower-level water to flow to the outlet. Oils and greases remain on the surface, where they are removed by suction hoses through 30-inch-diameter access risers. The Grease Interceptor is H-20 load rated when installed properly, and accepts most discharges associated with commercial food preparation.

Leachfield sand filter for small sites
The Eljen Geotextile Sand Filter (GSF) treats wastewater on small or challenging sites. According to the company, a GSF leachfield provides advanced treatment in 50 percent less space than aggregate systems, eliminates the need for complicated maintenance and maintenance contracts, has a long-term leaching capacity two to three times that of a conventional system, and reduces overall system cost. Two models of the Eljen GSF are available for applications in various states and with differing design specifications. The Eljen GSF B43 is used in bed and trench designs; the narrower GSF A42 was designed specifically to meet standards and design criteria for Colorado, and is also now approved for use in Massachusetts. The A42 requires a longer, thinner trench.

Custom trench drains for any application
Through its Aquaduct division, ACO Polymer Products offers custom trench drains to meet site-specific requirements such as size, grade, and corrosion resistance. According to the company, Aquaduct designs and manufactures trenches to almost any width, depth, slope, or shape, including custom catch basins with inlet-outlet pipe connections. Additionally, Aquaduct will manufacture trench drains and gratings using fiberglass, stainless steel, or other materials that meet requirements for chemical resistance, fire retardance, heat resistance, or other specific needs. For hazardous materials, double-wall trenches also are available to contain leaks in the primary trench and to prevent pollution of the surrounding land and groundwater.

Harsh environment level transducer
Pressure Systems introduced an enhanced, KPSI Series 705 submersible level transducer, with static accuracy of +/-0.25 percent FSO, for use in harsh operating conditions found in wastewater lift station applications. According to the company, a wide sensing area and a flush-mounted, Teflon-coated, elastomeric diaphragm make it ideally suited to highly viscous or slurry environments. The Series 705 is available in custom level ranges from 6 feet to 115 feet of water and has analog outputs of 4-20 mA or 0-5 VDC. Its standard housing construction is 316 stainless steel, with titanium available as an option.

Self-cleaning filtration systems
Amiad Filtration Systems offers automatic, self-cleaning filtration systems for water treatment and removal of cryptosporidium. The filtration elements consist of a series of thread-wound cassettes fastened into a carousel assembly that forms a cleaning element. Filtration currently is available to 3, 7, 10, or 20 microns, with a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years, according to the company. Operating pressures range from 3 to 150 pounds per square inch. An Amiad 10-micron, AMF2 system recently installed in a package wastewater treatment plant in South Carolina is producing effluent with 0.3 ppm total suspended solids, less than 2 ppm BOD, and 0.8 NTU, the company says.
